The Roc Nation general is making yet another business move as of yesterday when Warner/Chappell Music, the publishing sector of Warner Music Group, announced its new deal with Jay-Z to carry out the copyrights of his own songs and those on the music publishing roster of his respective company, Roc Nation. As of yesterday, Jay-Z signed him and his Roc Nation imprint to a global publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music. Warner/Chappell will effectively begin implementing Jay-Z’s catalog stretching back to 2008, and by the end of year, it will take on his early career hits in addition. Jay-Z has had a long healthy relationship with publishing executive Jon Platt which ultimately led to his decision to join with Warner/Chappell. In regards to the new business dealings, both men were full of praise for each other.
“The real meaning of success is being in the position to work with an individual you consider a friend,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “Jon Platt is such a person. He’s a man of extraordinary character as well as a remarkably talented executive with an ear for music and an eye for talent. It’s great to watch him grow to be one the best in the business.”
He also added,
“I couldn’t be happier to continue my relationships with Jay and Roc Nation and build on our partnerships at Warner/Chappell. We have the global expertise and resources to deliver new opportunities for their amazing catalogs, while helping them reach new heights of success around the world.”
