A few years back, aNYthing hit a bit of a rough patch. But following the opening of a new flagship store and consistent seasonal releases, things are looking up for the New York streetwear label. Their 2013 spring/summer collection features the band TV Baby and its members and founders Matthew McAuley and Brian McPeck — previously known as the founders of downtown electro-noise band A.R.E. Weapons. The line features a lot of vintage leanings that match with the band’s musical direction. Featuring more laid-back items such as sweatshirts, hoodies and graphic shorts, to more refined styles in the form of subdued tops accented with patterned patches and minimalist solid color jeans, the collection covers a broad range that allows for freedom to combine and experiment.
Similarly, TV Baby has explored alternative methods for expressing their music, such as with their first record, published by OHWOW, being released as an art book containing the work of 40 downtown artists, a rock opera performed in New York and Berlin, and their latest release appearing as a limited-edition 7” vinyl record with a cover by Spencer Sweeney.
