The Basket Tree by members of the French architectural and urban construct group A/LTA have simply yet ingeniously put two and two together to create a usable, family-friendly apparatus. As the name suggests, “The Basket Tree,” or ‘Arbre à Basket,’ combines the structure of a tree with its multiple branches with the purpose of a basketball hoop. The creation effectively introduces a sports and leisure sculpture that allows children and adults alike to play simultaneously. Placed in front of the Maison des Hommes et des Techniques in Nante last month, the installment represents an all-encompassing recreation symbol that allows players of different ages to play alongside each other, as well as branch out in creativity with new ways of playing.
