Polls: Are You Less Interested in Instagram Now That Facebook Owns It?

When early versions of Facebook were first rolled out, the pages were tagged with “a Mark Zuckerberg Production.” Although it may lack the official Zuck badge of ownership, Instagram is now officially a Mark Zuckerberg production following a swift acquisition that took place this past week to the tune of $1 billion. To many longtime iPhone Instagram users of the social mobile app, April 2012 dealt two significant blows to their guarded photographic outlet starting with an Android version being released less than two weeks prior to the Facebook acquisition. Immediately after Zuckerberg broke the news of the purchase from his personal profile, the interweb lit up with mixed opinions regarding the future and relevance of Instagram in the wake of its merge. And although the company has professed that it will still be operationally independent, many believe that changes are unavoidable. Loved for its simplistic approach and tight-knit community, concerns regarding everything from the user interface and privacy issues to an overall lack of “cool factor” have been raised. Be it a move to simply buy out the competition, or a genuine and noble investment to amplify and better the greater social world, it is hard to argue that perhaps Instagram has now lost some of its luster. But, we’ll let you decide. Are you less interested in Instagram now that Facebook owns it?

Looking back at our last poll in which we asked “Will Ashton Kutcher Portray A Good Steve Jobs?” the majority of people responded with, “Yes,” which held 63.3% of the vote (708 votes), while 36.7% (410 votes) voted “No.”
