Jaguar has confirmed the production of its new F-Type, a two-door two-seater sportscar that will compete alongside the likes of the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-Benz SL. A spiritual descendant of the marvelously retro and celebrated E-Type, the F-Type will however more directly resemble the recent concept show car C-X16. The new model is expected to deliver a top speed of over 180 mph and a 0-60 mph time of under five seconds. Production of the convertible and eventually the coupe will take place in Birmingham at Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich plant for sale slated 2013 in a move that will simultaneously boost British exports to emerging markets. Pricing and complete specifications will be revealed later this year.
