Sigma announces a premium take on its high-end SD1 DSLR camera as seen with a luxurious wood finishing on the body. Keeping its impressive photographic specs, this special edition of the SD1 model comes enveloped with an Amboyna Burl – a particularly expensive type of wood taken from the Padauk trees of Southeast Asia. Aesthetically the strong contrast of nature and technology may not win too many fans but the overall efforts should be applauded. Limited to a small run of only 10 pieces, the body-only of Sigma SD1 Wood Edition will be available for a suggested retail price of €9,999 EUR (approximately $13,349 USD).

    This is exactly the camera I’ve been looking for! I totally need it when I’m doing safaris in South Africa, sippin’ on my whiskey and taking photos of rhinos in my khaki outfit.

    It looks like a case that just snaps on. The execution of this design wasn’t very good but its a great idea.
