mishka nyc 2009 fall lookbook 1 Mishka NYC 2009 Fall Collection Lookbook

Mishka NYC present their 2009 fall collection lookbook as the brand’s growth is fully witnessed through a series of well-taken photographs uncovering a Brooklyn meets Oregon camping trip theme. Unlike the graphic tees, the cut&sew range is ultimately much more subdued and offers a nice balance and aesthetic. In the words of Mishka themselves, the press release can be seen below.

Photography: Marley Kate

We’re officially over summer.

Don’t get us wrong summer treated us well. But now that we’re in the thick of August, when temperatures are at their peak and the New York heat stifling, the temperate, crisp autumn air has never looked so attractive.

This fall, Mishka focused on items inspired by the great outdoors and quintessential American classics. The line boasts a broader range of fabrics, tailored cuts and a healthy mix of subdued hues and our trademark colors perpetually remaining true to Mishka sensibilities. Think of it as if the Brooklyn denizens went on a camping trip in Oregon.

Cut and sew is a mainstay this fall with flagship pieces such as the Mariner Pea Coat, Evergreen Hunter Work Coat and the Mephisto Leather Motor Cycle Jacket. Flannels like the Hudson Plaid shirt and the Loveless Plaid shirts are at the core of fall 09 collection. Complimenting this, simple and streamlined jackets like the Pillbox Blazer and sharp dress shirts like the Undertone Chambray add a level of whimsical maturity.

No collection would be complete without a stalwart selection of denim including the Boris skinny and the Alexei. And a Mishka collection wouldn’t be complete without a standard capsule t-shirt line aptly titled Born Under a Bad Sign, which features twelve tees illustrating the twelve zodiac signs, each represented by select Mishka artists.

The Mishka fall 09 collection will be available in-store at 350 on Friday August 21.

not my cup of tea and i can understand such discussions, since it became hard to track this brand, but in a way mishka radiate sympathy with their comic-nerd-b-movie-skatepunk-attitude.

I agree with Buzzo, there is no identity crises here. You see the “Re-Violated” sweater (the one with the rose)? This is the second release of that sweater, the first release (”Violator”) was released a while back, so many people don’t remember the first one.

this is not my thing but i like the product and the look of it its great

  8. Posted by: Buzzo on August 20, 2009 at 9:27 am

The hand with the gun image isn’t a Crooks graphics, Crooks just happened to use it first. It’s an iconic graphic from SF punk band Crime. Just like the Rose on the other sweater is an Iconic graphic from Depeche Mode.

And what Identity crisis? This brand has looked like this ever since they started making more than just tees and caps. Half of these items are just new colors, patterns or materials of items they released last fall, spring, etc, etc. Go have a look for yourselves dating back through their 2007 lookbooks. Flannels? Check. Striped sweaters? Check. Some sort of wool coat? Check. The eyeball prominently on something? Check. Etc, etc.

What’s changed is the style of photography and models. Using a great photographer unlike 90% of the rest of streetwear to do a lookbook isn’t an identity crisis, it’s a good move.

mishka always seems to have an identity crisis with their styles but don’t we all. i think that’s why it appeals to me on different levels.

Not bad for Mishka. However, the red sweater with the hand pulling the gun is an exact copy of a t-shirt Crooks & Castles released over a year ago. I strongly dislike Crooks & Castles and even I remember the t-shirt, same exact graphic as that sweater. Perhaps it is a collab between the two companies? I sure hope so.

Flawless! Every piece is perfect. I wouldn’t change a thing about the whole collection. Mishka has continually brought “IT”.

definitely a good move for them. i love that they’re adding more and more well made and modern cut and sew products to their lines every season.. has a modern/stylish/preppy feel but of course with the mishka roots still in the product.. NICE

Mishka fell off hard. Now they coming back looking like Freshjive? Nah b, nah…

  32. Posted by: Chuck-0 on August 19, 2009 at 12:38 pm

I know crooks and castles knocked the gun design first but know them-but everything else is super dope I love the growth but There is some pieces that were lame but overall dope-no to the plaid due to every streetwear brand feels soon as they jump in to cut and sew its plaid time

  33. Posted by: Edward on August 19, 2009 at 12:38 pm

Holy shit, this is the best lookbook Mishka’s put out yet! They throw in the mature style with their winter pieces (that M65 is MINE) along with their popular Mishka graphic accent. It’s subtle and powerful at the same time. Mishka improves from season to season, wish I could say the same for other “streetwear” companies..
