Smartphone makers HTC introduce their third Android-based phone, entitled the HTC Hero. The touchscreen-infused device continues the momentum of Google’s Android operating system with a few added features, including: a 3.2-inch display, GPS, digital compass, 5-megapixel auto focus camera and expandable MicroSD memory. The HTC Hero will also have an anti-fingerprint coating on the screen for smudge resistance and a Teflon coating on the exterior. Aside from those small details, the Hero will also become the first Android phone to support Adobe Flash, integrating the upcoming Flash Player 10. Other features include Twitter feeds, weather data, email/calendar widgets and a universal search functionality that looks through emails, contact list and other information.

The HTC Hero looks to make itself available in Europe this July and Asia later in the Summer. North American will see a release in the latter part of 2009, although price points have not be confirmed.

    THis phone looks nice and its nice to see an original interface on android,
    specs seems good and first phone to ship with flash support cant be a bad thing.

    iPhone knockoff? Yes, just like every strapped shoe is a Yeezy bite, any slim touch barphone is an iPhone bite. This looks like the nicest phone running Android right now. At least I have a while to check all my options before I have a chance to even buy this

    HTC always comes out really nice-looking innovative phones but their interface always blows. It should be interesting to see if this changes now that the phones are running Android instead of shitty Windows Mobile 6. The iPhone 3GS still has way better hardware in terms of the processor, CPU, and flash memory (this phone only holds 512mb and is still using microSD cards wtf?) the only thing is the HTC Hero has a better camera at 5 megapixels compared to the iPhones 3.0. It should be interesting to see Adobe Flash 10 on a phone finally, at least it’ll push other companies to step their game up. It’s such a simple integration and yet it’s taken years for them to incorporate it into a web browser on a phone. Anyways this is far from the iphone killer it shouldn’t even make a mark in Apples or Blackberry’s market share of smart phones, nice try HTC but you could’ve done better, this phone does have some potential though.
