wiispray project 1 The WiiSpray Project

The WiiSpray Project is essentially a platform developed to create “virtual graffiti” through the use of Wii technology. Originally developed in the Spring of 2007 by students Martin Lihs and Frank Matuse, the WiiSpray has quickly emerged as a legitimate creation allowing one or more people to interact creatively independent of space and time. What makes the WiiSpray even more unique is its ability to create works that could be saved on a server, independent of particular platforms. Further detailed information regarding this innovative project can be found at WiiSpray.com.

Lol I hope all you guys have 80+ inch projector screens… has anyone even though about the practicality of this for a second? If this comes out you’re going to have a buy a giant ass tv or an expensive projector just to use it. I mean unless you’re going to be graffiti on some tiny 30-40 inch television.

Sure it’s a great concept but come on… I know I’m not going to run out to buy a $700 projector just for this shit, I’ll stick to the real thing, imo.

This is the epitome of a corporation co opting something that really is cool (defined as creative people doing something revoltutionary) and selling it to the masses as a fake derivative. This platform is ridiculous, and whats more ridiculous is that people are interested in doing virtual graffiti.
Graffiti is predicated upon the acting of DOING illegal art, graffiti is all about NOT being a passive observer or cheerleader of a movement, but going out and being a part of it. The real power and uniqueness of graffiti art is that it is for everyone, and can be done by anyone.
    It is a revolutionary act.
Furthermore, any so-called ‘graffiti paint company’ that actually catered to the interests of artists would not support the co opting of the culture by corporate institutions by aiding them in mass marketing a product that simulates graffiti, but only functions to pacify the user and benefit the shareholders of the company stock.
    WACK.
Id rather be a player of the sport than a lethargic fan.
