From humble beginnings, Japanese artist Usugrow has created a real name for himself. From initial partnerships in his infancy with The Hundreds to successful showings with names like Mike Giant, his recent book Love Hate From Jp offers a perspective on his favorite personal works. Approximately two years ago, A-Ron from the brand aNYthing (who is no longer affiliated with aNYthing), started the aNYthing Glob (currently known as the The New York Glob) which was A-Ron’s voice to the world. In his blog, he would take photos of guest who would drop by the office. His guest which included artists, musicians and friends had their pictures taken at his office’s back door. If you’re looking to catalog the consumerist aspect of the street culture scene, LA MJC will release their annual All Gone publication for 2007 at the end of the month. The book outlines month by month the biggest and most sought after releases of 2007. Everything from books, sneakers, toys and apparel are all featured within the 256 pages. The book also boasts the help of some impressive players for both photography and direction. The book will be available exclusively through Colette and Sold Out with tentative drop dates set for January 31st/February 1st.
Juxtapoz’s 2008 February edition has started to hit news stands. The art and culture magazine explores artists such as David Ellis and Doze Green with interviews with Handselecta, Kad and Espo regarding the documentation of graffiti. This is just the tip of the iceberg as well, with other features including exhibitions with WK Interact and Sam Flores among others. Although largely ignored, the southern hemisphere has become somewhat of an unknown playground for Burton team riders for the past 10 years. A new photo book documenting their exploits has been produced as photographers Dean “Blotto” Gray, Jeff Curtes and Adam Moran followed some marquee Burton riders such as Terje Haakonsen, Hannah Teter, Nicolas Muller, and Shaun White. Most guys would give up an arm or a leg to have Yone’s job. Who else in the world gets to shoot some of the sexiest Japanese models than Mr. Yonehara Yasumasa. Yone has just given a look at some upcoming plans for this month. Lately he has been working on two books which include Sneaker Lover and Warp Lover. Sneaker Lover will feature popular Japanese model Aki Hoshino (also known for her collaboration with Kiks TYO). Warp Lovers will be a book produced by Warp magazine where Yone has a monthly photo column called Tokyo Sweet. Anyway, these books will be coming out later this month so don’t miss out.
