The late Beatles’s great John Lennon and his controversial wife Yoko Ono form the latest cast in mastermind JAPAN’s Crown Jewel Theatre8 collection. Theatre8 is mmJ themed release of products which all reference special events and movies of the past, chosen for their symbolic value. The “Peace Bed” refers to Lennon and Ono’s “bed-in’s” during the Vietnam War as their method of speaking out again war. The small release features four different styles, set to launch on February 6th at Crown Jewel.

Have no fear because Mastermind Japan has just recently released a new skull necktie with Gingam who they say has developed the world’s most advance way to bond Swarovski crystals to various materials. Mastermind Japan will be taking this years ward for the most collaborations. Although I don’t believe anyone is complaining, the company has set a blistering pace this season. This time, they’ve teamed up with Jack Purcell and Beams. The Jack Purcell shoe has been the forefront of many trends over the years and with this pair limited to 1800, the company hopes to duplicate there previous success.

Mastermind Japan has followed in the footsteps of every other Japanese brand to create their collection of G-Shocks. In a predictable collabo of sorts, the watch is black in color with skulls on the dial. Both a DW-5600 and DW-6900 will release in a set on Valentines Day.

Coming from this season’s Mastermind Japan collection called “Heartful”, this lightweight umbrella is made using titanium alloy. Mastermind Japan is one of those Japanese brands you’ll never understand why it’s so expensive to buy. Their logo and branding is based of skulls, skulls and skulls. Mastermind Japan has created several interesting items for their 2008 Spring/Summer “Heartful” collection including this Mastermind Japan x OTS leather sneakers. These hi-top shoes come in a simple black/white colorway and feature the Mastermind Japan badging on the back heel of the shoe. There is also another Mastermind Japan touch which is the zipper on the side panel of the sneakers.

To celebrate mastermind Japan’s 10 year anniversary, they teamed up with well known Japanese toymakers Bandai to produce an insanely expensive mastermind Japan x Bandai figure. Recently unveiled as part of the collaboration are two t-shirts featuring glitter print on a black body. No word on availability.

The 10th Anniversary of mastermind Japan has resulted in many interesting collaborations. Perhaps none as interesting as the recent uncovering of this Bandai figure based on the Gundam H2YM MS-06J ZAKUII. mastermind Japan were responsible for the colors and their mark is evident with the use of their skull & bones logo on the chest and shield. The two box packaging for this figure weighs in at a staggering 34 kilograms. Available for pre-order at Bandai Hobby Shop with a release date set for March of next year. Fans of mastermind Japan may find the ¥399,000 JPY (approximately $3,679 USD) slightly easier to stomach than most.
