If there’s ever a concept driven designer, the award belongs in the hands of Dr Romanelli. Countless collections from the famed clothing designer and customizer have been subjected to his interesting concepts and themes . In a recent project with the countries leading vintage dealer Fruition out of Las Vegas, a special capsule of products were created. Each piece was painstakingly chosen by Chris Julian and the Fruition team and modified by Dr. Romanelli to reflect a new and contemporary take on vintage designs. The two sub-collections include a loud and vibrant Nike collection and a classic Christian Dior collection. The capsule is currently available at Fruition.

Chicago based artist Lupe Fiasco and jacket maker extraordinaire Dr. Romanelli have teamed up in a recent collection based on Lupe Fiasco’s sophomore album, The Cool. The Cool collection is represented by a series of reversible jackets depicting artwork seen in Lupe’s album cover art.

Last month, jacket customizing demigod Dr Romanelli released his Surgical Strike line of jackets. Themed after vintage military stylings, Dr Romanelli does like no other in cutting and sewing to produce innovative and creative designs suited for the everyday. maharishi’s Churchill Gallery in London will launch a new exhibition including works by Andrew Brandou and Dr Romanelli’s newest Surgical Strike Collection. American artist Brandou themes his art around Adubon prints, citing an inspiration in the "high level of care and craft [which] has given them longevity, but they hold little interest to a contemporary audience.” With this in mind, his "After Audubon" exhibition sets to modernize Audubon’s work by incorporating elements of pop culture, street fashion and designer toys. The result is a contemporary work which incorporates the best of the new and old school.
Dr. Romanelli’s latest line, the Surgical Strike Collection sets out to bring out the passion and tradition within military dress. The goal of this collection was to utilize unconventional forms and add it to the obvious functionality of military dress. The collection has a very much urban feel in association with products of the highest order.

Andrew Brandou and Dr. Romanelli represent two Los Angeles based artists at the creative forefront of reinspired designs. This latest Surgical Strike collection is a mix of clothing and paintings each incorporating a military inspired theme. The concept behind this project is Dr. Romanelli’s personal fascination with vintage military apparel. This collection includes Romanelli’s trademark customized apparel which extend far beyond the original military aesthetic and incorporate a higher-end feel and execution. Andrew Brandou has contributed a series of paintings based off of the works of wildlife artist John James Audubon. These pieces will debut on November 22nd at Maharishi.

One time HYPEBEAST blogger, Hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco has joined forces with jacket customizer Dr. Romanelli, artist Nathan Cabrera and British label Maharishi on an upcoming project. No word yet on what this collaboration entails but it should tie in with the December 18th release of Lupe Fiasco’s album, “The Cool”. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
