Inspired by the British class system, A-COLD-WALL is now catching the eye of buyers and editors worldwide. Founded by the London-based designer Samuel Ross in 2015, his collection merges British working-class uniforms with elements of Savile Row tailoring. In Ross’s hands, DIY takes on new meaning that even basic garments like logo T-shirts are handcrafted; each one is hand-dyed and Ross adds the logo taping himself. The melancholic aura of ACW stems from the dire mood of Britain. Keen to push the parameters of his interest in fashion, after graduating from De Montfort University in Leicester with a degree in graphic design and illustration,Ross then set about contacting a range of companies across the UK and the US. Samuel Ross was once the ex-assistant and now the consultant of OFF-WHITE founder Virgil Abloh. A-COLD-WALL’s apparel is only available in 6 stockists worldwide, including Harvey Nichols in the UK, Barneys in NYC, United Arrows in Japan and IT in Hong Kong etc. The lines limited points of sale is because of Ross’s requirement of reinterpreting retail experiences. Stores provide him with a creative space in which he can debut and stage installations and decorations, play curated films and soundtracks, next to where his line would be displayed.
