Description
Masakazu Fukuyama is the creative director of the Japanese outdoorswear label Man of Moods.
Born in Nara, Japan, Fukuyama led a successful 10-year career as a professional snowboarder, in the process signing contracts with 10 major companies, including Nike and DCSHOECOUSA.
After retiring from snowboarding, Fukuyama taught himself the intricacies of fashion before launching Man of Moods in 2004 with former COMMES des GARCONS designer Yuya Noguchi, with Fukuyama applying his knowledge of the elements in creating a brand based around highly technical performance textiles. After relocating Man of Moods from Tokyo, Fukuyama now lives and operates his brand from the small town of Minakami in central Japan’s mountainous Gunma Prefecture.
He is an avid practitioner of extreme fishing, utilizing the many valleys of Minakami’s surrounding landscape.
