“NKE 6.0 is specially aimed at the youth “outdoors” market. It is totally separate from Nike SB. At present NKE 6.0 already has produced 4 models, separately aimed at kids participating in different outdoor games/activities including: Snowboarding, Surfing, BMX Racing, Motor Biking, Skateboarding, etc. The target age for 6.0 is 6-13 years of age – so, kids aka GROMS.
NKE 6.0 drops around July, August in Asia. 6.0 is priced lower than the SB line, as it is hoped that the unlimited line will satisfy amateur outdoor athletes around the world.”

Those who live in Germany are in luck. New Balance is hosting an event where the winner gets a pair of their own designed NB576 if their design is chosen.
“Winner gets a flight to London, hotel stay and accomodations for 3 days in the UK, a trip to the NB factory in Flimby and the chance to design their own 576’s. To win, the winner has to pick up a copy of Lace Mag #4, live in Germany and must design and cut out a paper 576 from the mag (similar to the jpg above). Closing date of the contest is June 30, 2005. Out of all the entries two winners will be drawn.”

Here is the adidas Oddity series which include the models Questar, Rising Star and ZX8000. Why all the wacky and different colors? Here’s Crooked Tongues explanation:
“When you are designing or retro-ing a model, the plans are sent out to the factory, the factory guys do their thing, and then the first design / shape prototypes come back for approval, etc. As they are pretty early versions, cost of production is kept to a minimum by allowing the factory to use whatever excess materials are laying about, and the results can be very interesting.”
