Awake NY founder Angelo Baque remains steadfast when it comes to the progression of his brand’s youth-centric ethos. While skate culture and music are at the imprint’s creative core, activism and social awareness have also become the New York label’s mission at hand. This year, Awake NY released a special T-Shirt to benefit Black Lives Matter Los Angeles and teamed up with Fear of God and other brands on a charitable drop for George Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter, Giana. Baque also continued his yearly Social Studies program which included roundtable discussions with Jerry Lorenzo, Lena Waithe, Chris Gibbs and more on topics surrounding voting and the creative industry.
Building on its seasonal releases in 2020, Awake NY saw fruitful collaborations with global brands Carhartt, Moncler, Timberland and Reebok. As 2021 approaches, Awake looks to build its ever-growing fan base through Baque’s sharp instincts for partnerships, design direction and devotion to New York City culture.
