Achievement

In 2018, Daniel Lee made instant fashion headlines when he inherited the role of Bottega Veneta’s creative director from Tomas Maier, who had held the position for 17 years. Those were big shoes to fill, but by 2019 Lee has handled the transition with aplomb, transforming the elegant Italian label into a must-have label for a new generation of fashionistas. Lee may not be keen on social media himself (he’s notably absent on Instagram), but his shoes and bags have become quite the Instagram accessory nonetheless. He certainly isn’t about to slap a monster logo on his pieces — that’s not the Bottega Veneta way after all — but Lee has still found a way to make his accessories instantly recognizable with the brand’s signature woven detailings. At this year’s Fashion Awards, Lee snapped up the coveted prizes of Designer of the Year, British Designer of the Year—Womenswear, Accessories Designer of the Year and Brand of the Year, cementing his ascendancy to the fashion elite.
