Sources indicate that Blazy will take on the role of creative director at Chanel.
According to an official release from Bottega Veneta on Tuesday morning, Louise Trotter will replaced Matthieu Blazy as creative director of the Italian leather goods brand. Business of Fashion reported that Louise Trotter is set to leave her role as creative director at French brand Carven after its FW25 presentation this January.
After three successful years leading the house amidst its contemporary revival, various industry sources Matthieu Blazy confirm his widely rumored move to Chanel. The lauded designer joined Bottega Veneta following Daniel Lee‘s four years in the role, credited with resurrecting the brand into a new era. Blazy further imbued Bottega with a new cool, with his striking trompe l’oeil leather garments and high craft accessories.
On her appointment, Louise Trotter commented “I am deeply honored to join Bottega Veneta as Creative Director. The House’s storied legacy of artistry and innovation is truly inspiring, and I am excited to contribute to its future and celebrate its timeless vision.” Trotter had been at the heritage label Carven since February 2023 and had previously held creative titles at Lacoste and Joseph.
Bottega Veneta CEO Leo Rongone said that her aesthetic “seamlessly combines exquisite design with sublime craft,” emphasizing her commitment to cultural advocacy and the “sophisticated lens” of her work. Additionally, Francesca Bellettini, Kering Deputy CEO said “Louise brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to Bottega Veneta’s tradition of bold creativity and unparalleled excellence.”
