KOLON SPORT x JiyongKim FW26 Sculpts Goose Down and Fleece Into Adjustable Outerwear
The pair’s second collection takes its cues from Himalayan Sherpa traditions.
Summary
JiyongKim and KOLON SPORT reunite for a second collaborative collection that reworks the functional framework of outdoor gear
Layered goose down and fleece build dimensional, sculpted shapes, while drawstrings, straps and detachable components let each piece change form
Garment washing and reimagined technical details like seam sealing and pockets push function into the realm of design
JiyongKim and KOLON SPORT have teamed up on their second collaborative collection, a FW26 lineup that takes apart the construction of technical outdoor wear and rebuilds it through JiyongKim’s pattern work and silhouettes. Drawing on Himalayan Sherpa traditions and the ways people dress for unpredictable mountain conditions, the range treats insulation, hardware and finishing as tools for shaping garments as much as protecting the wearer.
Materials set the foundation. Goose down and fleece, two of outdoor wear’s most familiar insulators, are stacked and assembled in layers to give the garments real dimension. Rather than producing a flat, uniform puff, the construction creates pronounced volume and a sculpted, almost architectural profile, with JiyongKim’s patternmaking dictating how the fill and pile sit on the body.
Adjustability is built into the structure. Drawstrings, straps and detachable components appear throughout, allowing the wearer to cinch, release or remove elements so that a single piece can take on different shapes. The idea mirrors the collection’s mountain inspiration, where clothing has to respond to shifting weather and terrain, and here the silhouette changes depending on how each garment is worn and where.
Finishing adds another layer of character. The collection is garment washed, a process that brings out the natural texture of each fabric and introduces subtle variation across the surface, so no two pieces read exactly the same. Technical features that usually stay in the background are also pulled forward. Seam sealing and pockets, typically there purely for weatherproofing and utility, are reworked into deliberate visual elements that contribute to each garment’s form.
The approach reflects where the two labels meet. KOLON SPORT brings its background in functional outdoor apparel developed around a respect for the natural world, while JiyongKim builds its clothing around quieter natural phenomena such as sunlight, wind, warmth and the passage of time. The result is a collection where the practical logic of outdoor gear and a sculptural design sensibility share equal footing.
The KOLON SPORT x JiyongKim FW26 collection launches October 8.
