The Sacramento Kings have agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million USD contract with Ben Simmons. The deal marks the three-time NBA All-Star’s return to the league after sitting out the 2025-26 season to rehabilitate lingering back and leg injuries.
Prior to finalizing the agreement, the 6-foot-10 guard impressed Kings general manager Scott Perry during a private workout in Miami, later traveling to Sacramento for comprehensive medical evaluations and on-court drills with head coach Doug Christie. Simmons previously demonstrated his health during an August minicamp with the Australia men’s national team, drawing additional interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors.
The Kings intend to utilize Simmons as a primary backup point guard for rookie Darius Acuff Jr., leveraging his ability to defend and play positions 1 through 5. Selected first overall in the 2016 NBA draft, Simmons holds career averages of 13.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.2 assists across 383 regular-season games with the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, and LA Clippers.
