RANE is kicking the year off as strongly as it ended the last, announcing what it calls “the world’s first motorized standalone DJ system” – the RANE SYSTEM ONE.

Unlike the recent ONE MKII, however, the new SYSTEM ONE is a fully independent unit that can be used without a laptop, offering users the tactility of rotating vinyl-like platters coupled with the convenience of an all-in-one device for the very first time.

RANE is also introducing a brand new operating system, Engine DJ, with its latest release. The powerful new OS, which the brand calls an “ever-expanding embedded software platform,” debuts on the SYSTEM ONE and allows DJs to seamlessly and simultaneously switch between sources while mixing, including USB drives, SD cards  and online streaming services.

At the heart of the SYSTEM ONE is a 7-inch HD touchscreen that displays all of a track’s details including BPM, tempo, key and loop information. There’s also a newly designed RGB waveform with colors that pop and compliment those found elsewhere on the unit. Users can also easily navigate through their libraries thanks to the screen’s clear, bright text, as well as scroll through the device’s various effects on the new Touch FX interface.

On either side of the display are the SYSTEM ONE’s dual 7.2-inch high-torque motorized platters, which deliver a premium feel thanks to their aluminum construction. According to Morgan Donoghue, VP Marketing at RANE’s parent company inMusic, the SYSTEM ONE’s build quality and abundance of features “sets a new benchmark” for DJs, who “no longer have to choose between the trusted feel of motorized platters and the freedom that a standalone DJ unit provides.”

As well as the previously mentioned options users have for their source music, the SYSTEM ONE includes a SATA drive bay that provides a potentially huge and ultra-fast internal memory option. The device is also compatible with multiple music streaming platforms including Apple Music, Beatport, Beatsource, Dropbox, SoundCloud GO+ and TIDAL, which users can connect to over Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, though, the device does not include an ethernet port for wired internet connectivity.

One of the SYSTEM ONE’s key highlights is its advanced stems controls. Described by RANE as being “thoughtfully integrated into the hardware,” the SYSTEM ONE allows DJs to get creative directly on the device without the need for any additional hardware or software. It features dedicated Instant Acapella and Instrumental buttons, and stems can also be assigned to one of the eight pads on each side, or EQ’d independently with Stem Level EQ mode.

It features over 25 main effects with paddle activation, 10 touch control effects, four effects controlled by the faders and five sweep effects. RANE has used its well-regarded MAG FOUR crossfader on the SYSTEM ONE, which can be adjusted based on preference with on-screen calibration. There’s an onboard sampler that can be controlled via the unit’s pads, and it also features Bluetooth, allowing users to connect a keyboard to the device for quick library navigaton.

The RANE SYSTEM ONE is available now via RANE and it global retail partners for £2,199 GBP/ €2,499 EUR / $2,499 USD.
