HBO Max has released the first footage from the highly anticipated DC Studios series, Lanterns, showcasing Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, both members of the Green Lantern Corps.
The series is structured as a buddy cop detective drama, centering on the journey of the two intergalactic cops as they delve into a dark murder mystery on Earth. It promises a mix of superhero action and gritty police procedural elements. The dramatic preview includes a scene where Jordan seemingly tests Stewart’s readiness to wield the Green Lantern power by driving a car off a cliff, forcing Stewart to use his abilities in an emergency.
Notably, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran confirmed that the series launch has been strategically moved to late summer 2026 on HBO Max. This places its arrival after the June 26 release of Supergirl next year. Safran indicated the delay is to ensure the show will receive the “right lead in, the right promotion.”
Lanterns is set to further expand James Gunn‘s DC Universe. The series will also see the return of Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner from Superman and introduce Ulrich Thomsen as the villainous Sinestro. Check out the clip below.
