Kendrick Lamar's 'GNX' Becomes First Rap Album of 2025 To Sell One Million Units

In the midst of Drake‘s controversial defamation lawsuit against UMG that follows The Boy and Kendrick Lamar‘s ongoing feud, the “Not Like Us” diss track rapper has enjoyed great success with his GNX album. Breaking several records, most recently surpassing Travis Scott’s UTOPIA streaming record, the Compton rapper adds another successful metric to the mix.

GNX has now become the first rap album in 2025 in the U.S. to sell one million units. The momentum from his major Super Bowl Halftime Show continues as he cements himself as one of the most popular rappers this year. Drake’s lawsuit against UMG sees the Toronto rapper accuse the label and distributor of illegally manipulating the sales of Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” diss track. He claims that the song was defamatory and now, a year after their battle, both of them are still reaping the benefits of the saga. Both Kendrick and Drake have celebrated several career achievements since the feud. Both rappers are still dominant on the charts. Kendrick recently hopped on Playboi Carti’s new album, featuring on the track “GOOD CREDIT.” Drake recently dropped a joint album with PARYTNEXTDOOR titled $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.
