Toyota Paves the Way for a Carbon Neutral Future With the bZ4X BEV Concept
70 electric car models are set to launch by 2025.
Despite strong insistence on hybrid powertrains previously, Toyota has now shifted part of its focus onto fully-electric vehicles, unveiling the bZ4X electric SUV to pave the way for a more sustainable future.
Falling under the Japanese automaker’s Beyond Zero lineup, the new concept SUV represents the company’s push forward in the electric realm in the hopes to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. While specific details regarding the concept remain scarce, Toyota hopes to begin production of a road-ready version as soon as possible, and launch it by the middle of 2022. Once ready, the bZ4X will be one of 70 electric car models offered by the automaker by 2025, 15 of which will be fully electric.
“The Toyota bZ4X concept points to yet another option in our already robust electrified portfolio” said Bob Carter, executive vice president of sales of Toyota’s North American operations. “At Toyota, we are a human-centered company – the customer is our CEO and will ultimately decide which technologies will carry us toward a carbon neutral future. With investments and product offerings across the spectrum of electrification, we intend to be there with products and technologies that meet the diverse needs of customers around the world.”
Of course, as a concept, there aren’t any concrete details regarding how much the bZ4X SUV cost, so those interested in Toyota’s upcoming EV offerings should stay tuned for more updates to come.
