McIntosh Labs Brings the Iconic MC3500 Amplifier From Woodstock '69 Back to Life
Featuring eight EL509S high-power output vacuum tubes.
McIntosh Labs is taking it back to Woodstock ‘69 for a faithful recreation of the iconic monoblock amp that powered the very first festival.
This updated MC3500 Vacuum Tube Amplifier Mk II harnesses that pivotal moment in music history where 400,000 fans relied on McIntosh Laboratory to deliver quality sound from their favorite bands. Now available for home hi-fi use, the 350-Watt monoblock 1-channel vacuum tube amplifier features eight EL509S high-power output vacuum tubes, Power Guard Screen Grid Sensor technology, Sentry Monitor technology, Solid Cinch speaker binding posts, a fully machined aluminum front panel with a bead blast finishing and gold anodizing, and McIntosh’s DualViewT Power Output Meter design.
“At the 50th anniversary of Woodstock in 2019, there was a lot of buzz resurfacing about the McIntosh sound system,” said McIntosh President, Charlie Randall. “This enthusiasm was infectious and inspired me to get our engineering team together to redesign the amp that has obviously resonated with music fans as being a historically significant piece of audio gear. After over two years, we are really proud of the result. The MC3500 Mk II takes its inspiration from the original 1968-71 MC3500 and incorporates all the knowledge we have gained surrounding vacuum tube amplifier design since the ’60s.”
