Matty of BADBADNOTGOOD Remembers Life Before 'Déjàvu'
He also talks about the resurgence of Jazz in pop culture and forming the group.
For the latest entry in our Conversations With interview series, HYPEBEAST linked up with Matty Tavares of BADBADNOTGOOD, who discusses forming the group, the resurgence of Jazz in pop culture and making Déjàvu.
Before making his album, Matty was going through a difficult period in his life and needed to step away from the band. “I went through a really really tough time emotionally a few years ago. It was really heavy and I started seeing a theapist and I kind of had this crazy breakdown and I needed to step back from tour with BadBad,” he explains. Matty adds how it was producer Frank Dukes who talked him in to creating Déjàvu. He continues, “I’m like really good friends with Frank Dukes and he’s like, ‘You should make a record’ and I was like cool and he excutive produced it for me, which was like crazy.”
