Matt Ox Remembers Working With XXXTentacion for "$$$"
He also talks working with Chief Keef, his hobbies and anime.
For the latest entry in our Conversations With interview series, HYPEBEAST linked up with Matt Ox, a 13-year-old Philly phenom who sits down with us to discuss his hobbies, anime influencing his personal style and working with Chief Keef and the late XXXTentacion. For X’s last album, ?, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in March, Ox appeared on the hook of the single titled “$$$.”
“It was dope, that was my boy,” he said regarding working with XXXTentacion. “He used to call me a lot to just check up. I had sent him the little openin’ at first and he rocked with it. I’m just playing him a couple of songs that I had made and he heard that one and he was like send that to me.”
Matt Ox signed to Motown Record earlier this year and released his debut album, OX, late October. The 11-song LP features guest appearances from Key!, Chief Keef, and Valee with production taken over by Working on Dying, TrapMoneyBenny, F1lthy, and others.
