Rick Owens Crafts Two New Striking Birkenstock Silhouettes
Teaming up with the German footwear label once again.
Following the successful launch of their first collaboration, Birkenstock and Rick Owens recently linked up for a second season with a duo of new silhouettes debuted at Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019. This time around, Rick Owens looked to offer a brutalist-focused take the Rotterdam Velcro Sandal and the Rotterhiker Boot.
The Rotterdam sandal features a distinct velcro strap closure in the front with a contrast-colored and extended logo strap. Moving towards the upper strap, a metal squeeze buckle is used to provide a secure lockdown, while an EVA outsole and cork footbed round up the design of the sandal.
Available in beige velour leather and black oiled nubuck, the Rotterhiker Boot prominently features a metal buckle on the upper strap and a contrasting logo strap detail. Elevating the shoe is a chunky translucent rubber outsole and an original Birkenstock footbed.
