Following up his how to build an iPhone in China video, Scotty Allen of YouTube channel Strange Parts recently made a new clip chronicling his project of adding a headphone jack to an iPhone 7. The project addresses the issues that came with Apple’s removal of the headphone jack which forced users to choose between listening to music or charging their phone. The mod Allen came up with involves wiring a headphone dongle to a custom circuit board that fits inside an iPhone housing without disturbing the other components of the phone. After various roadblocks and unforeseen issues, Allen reveals that Apple’s decision to remove the headphone jack was not simply done on a whim and highlights the intricacies of designing the flagship device. Check out the headphone mod above and get all the details to mod your iPhone 7 here.
