The Common-Folk Looks to '90s Sportswear for Its 2017 Spring/Summer Collection
“There is no I in TEAM. But there is a ME. Fuck you, no there is not”

For the 2017 spring/summer season, The Common-Folk turn the page back on the ‘90s in a nostalgic reinterpretation of the decade’s sportswear scene and the commercialization of the culture. Titled “THERE IS NO “I” IN SPORTS,” the Toronto-based imprint combine asian-inspired silhouettes and classic sporting pieces with contemporary design cues placed noticeably throughout. Oversized camo-printed kimonos pair with caps while traditional style baseball jerseys feature front-facing straps. Shot in the streets of Venice Beach, the lookbook presentation does well to communicate the individuality that lies within a team concept.
