Chef King CookDaily and Artist SAMBYPEN Embark on an East Meets West Exploration of Food and Art
Vegan eats, studio visits and graffiti writing in the second episode of our ‘City 2 City’ series featuring the New Balance 247.
Despite working with vastly different mediums, the work of both artists and chefs echo one another — from gathering inspiration for a new dish or painting; to considering texture, color, and composition; then, testing out combinations of various ingredients before finally arriving at a finished product. In part two of our City 2 City series, HYPBEAST and New Balance explore the relationship between food and art by linking up with London-based chef, King CookDaily, and contemporary artist SAMBYPEN in Seoul.
Though King is a vegan with a knack for using a spray can, and Sam has a clean graphic design background with a preference for burgers, over the course of a week, the two found common ground in their inspiration and the stories behind their careers. Trading experiences in the UK and Korea, Sam and King tagged some walls, tried out local cuisine and visited each other’s places of work — gaining newfound respect for each other’s respective passions along the way. Getting the pair around the sprawling urban landscapes of London and Seoul was the New Balance 247 Sport. The sleek silhouette blends seamlessly into the modern cityscape of Apgujeong or the street art-laden cobblestone streets of Shoreditch.
Watch this space for another City 2 City episode next week, and grab the 247 Sport now in a variety of colorways from boutiques like KITH, END, and at NewBalance.com for $90 USD.
