Back in April when K-Dot dropped DAMN. it was apparent it was going to be a hit. The project’s first week saw it cruise to No.1 on the Billboard 200 chart and also move just over 600,000 units. The album’s debut week was a sign of things to come.

The 25 weeks that have followed have seen the rapper’s latest album remain firmly in Billboard’s top 10. That’s just shy of half-a-year, not bad for a kid from the streets of Compton. To give Kendrick’s achievement some context, three other major artists — Ed Sheeran, Drake, and Katy Perry — have all dropped albums this year but only DAMN. and ÷ have spent 25 weeks or more on the Billboard 200 chart. Sheeran’s latest album has racked up 27 weeks on the infamous chart but his longest streak is only 20 weeks. DAMN. also spent 21 back-to-back weeks in the top five compared to Sheeran’s nine. Drake was the last rapper to perform such a feat back in 2016 with his album Views. The 6-God’s album spent 35 weeks in the top 10 with a consecutive stretch of 30.

Back in July, Billboard unveiled their mid-year report for top-performing albums, and DAMN. led the way with 1,772,000 units. That total is now reported to be around the 2.3 million mark, which means Kendrick is still King. For fans across the world, Kendrick Lamar is bringing His ‘DAMN.’ tour to Europe.
