Microsoft Takes Aim at Amazon With Harman Kardon Partnership
A Cortana speaker is coming in 2017.
Microsoft has had a big year with the unveiling of the Surface Studio as a competitor to Apple and will now also jump into the ring with Amazon’s Echo in a partnership with Harman Kardon. This will mark the first time a third-party manufacturer will be incorporating Cortana, Microsoft’s personal assistant software, into a speaker. In the 30-second trailer, the duo refers to the partnership as “Premium Audio Meets Personal Assistant” and teases at a 2017 debut for the device, which will include a Cortana user interface display on the top.
