Snoop Dogg Invests in New Sports Conversation App GameOn
“Join my huddle and have a chance to chat with the boss.”
Earlier this month, Snoop Dogg (aka Coach Snoop) hosted his first episode of Turf’d Up, a new web-series produced in tandem with adidas Football that highlights candid discussions and recaps with featured NFL stars. Furthering his sports-related endeavors, TechCrunch has just reported that the rapper has secured an investment for a new sports conversation app called GameOn. Along with football players Joe Montana and Lawyer Milloy, he has contributed to the project’s seed round. On what he hopes for the future of the app, Snoop says, “Fans from all over the world can join me and talk about their favorite teams, best plays, and of course a bunch of trash talk.”
Known to be a big Steelers fan, the artist is already a regular contributor to GameOn’s group chats, regularly facilitating conversations during the games. The free app is available on both iOS and Android and is described by CEO Alex Beckman as a hybrid where “ESPN meets WhatsApp.” Highlighted features of the app include the users being able to choose their favorite teams to receive related updates and news, as well as real-time chat functionality to discuss games with friends or in forums. You can download GameOn now at the Apple iTunes Store and Google Play Store.
