ODO Develops Odor-Resistant, Stain and Water-Repellant Denim
Woven with the magical properties of silver.
Denimheads have always implored neophytes to never, ever wash their jeans for more natural wear, but the inevitable side effect turning your pair of jeans into a festering biosphere of bacteria is understandably enough to deter anyone from properly following through. However, with the incorporation of nanotechnology into their own denim, the team at fashion startup ODO have managed to transform the denim experience with a jeans material that is resistant to odors, stains and liquids. The nanotechnology in question, NanoSphere, forms a fine structure of peaks on the surface of the fabric which prevents various substances from adhering and being absorbed into the jeans. Silver-bonded polymer thread has also been woven into the material, which works to neutralize odor-producing bacteria that feeds off sweat by releasing an infinite supply of positively charged silver ions.
Now undergoing crowdfunding on Kickstarter, the development has certainly hit it off with the masses, accruing 12 times its original goal of $10,000 USD at the time of publishing. Head on over to ODO’s project page now to get your own pair from $100 USD.
