Chris Rock Will Host This Year's Oscars
“It will be a night that ends with a lot of drunk, disappointed people swearing they’ll do better next year.”
First hosting the Academy Award show back in 2005, the comedian-slash-actor returns again for this year’s esteemed awards ceremony. The Oscars have admittedly taken a hit in recent years with a string of questionable choices for hosts, including Billy Crystal and the infamous James Franco and Anne Hathaway duo. Thankfully, memorable and entertaining masters of ceremonies such as Neil Patrick Harris and Ellen Degeneres have at least retained viewer interest for the most part, a task not easily achieved for the longstanding awards show that has been known to drag on. With the announcement that Chris Rock will take on hosting duties this year, here’s hoping that his charm and wit are enough to entice audiences to tune in this year.
