Spoon featuring Iamsu!, Kurupt & Boogie - Inside Out (DJ Quik Remix)

This might be one of the more unique collaborations you’ll hear this month. For the latest selection in their Songs From Scratch series, Yours Truly have united DJ Quik, Iamsu!, Kurupt and swiftly-rising, Long Beach-based talent Boogie for a rework of Spoon’s “Inside Out.”  The DJ Quik remix was recorded at Little Big Room in Burbank, CA, the same place Quik recorded his most recent album, The Midnight Life. Quik and Spoon’s Britt Daniels were united at Little Big Room to re-arrange and rework the They Want My Soul offering, and all three rappers involved were brought into the studio to record. The end result: this unorthodox, yet cohesive take on the sound of Spoon. You can listen to DJ Quik’s remix of “Inside Out” above, and check out a video documenting the studio sessions below. As Yours Truly notes, this is also the first DJ Quik remix in “roughly a decade.”
