Solange Debuts New Song, "Rise," Dedicated to Baltimore and Ferguson

During a concert organized by HBO in honor of Bessie Smith and their upcoming biopic Bessie, Solange debuted a new song, “Rise.” She told the audience:
“We’re gonna attempt to play a song for the first time that may or may not be on the record, but it probably will be. I wrote this one for Ferguson, for Baltimore, and it’s called ‘Rise.’”
In the wake of the highly publicized frustrations and protests following police brutality towards black males we are seeing multiple artists like Prince and Run The Jewels speak out, or allow their music to. Add Solange to that list too. With lyrics like “He is only a man with flesh and bones / He bleeds just like you do,” Solange’s stance is very clear.
