Well, this might be one of the most “unique” things you’ll hear today. Alternative singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega had a huge hit on her hands when her late-eighties number “Tom’s Diner” hit the airwaves. Over a quarter of a century later, the song is arguably her most well-recognized effort. Now, Italian artist-of-all-crafts Giorgio Moroder and Britney Spears have served up a more modern, decidedly different rendition of the song. Think electronic synth-work and melodies and a more “club,” “poppy” feel, all without the velvety smoothness of the original. Moroder and Britney’s cover of “Tom’s Diner” will be included on the 74-year-old legend’s forthcoming studio album Déjà Vu, right alongside other collaborations with artists such as Sia, Charli XCX, Kelis, Mikey Ekko and others. You can check out Moroder and Spears’ new take on “Tom’s Diner” above. Previously liberated cuts off Giorgio Moroder’s new album include songs featuring Sia and Kylie Minogue.
