In a stunt coordinated and shot by Red Bull, Will Gadd, a Canadian ice climber and paragliding pilot, ascends one of the most famous waterfalls in the world — Niagara Falls. The dangerous task was made possible by the slowed water flow during this year’s cold weather, which created suitable climbing conditions for the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year. Even so, one mistake would have been disastrous for the Canadian. After a successful climb, the adventurer does not consider this a victory, saying, “That climb beat me up. I may have reached the top, but Niagara won the war.” For more information, check out Red Bull’s website here and enjoy footage of the historic climb of the world’s most iconic waterfall above.
