The "El Hemi" Has Been a Family Heirloom Since Day 1
1/137; A rare look at a fully-restored 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 426 Hemi 4-speed.
In 1969, Juan Escalante’s dad took the family to Detroit to attend the famous Detroit Auto Show. There, his father immediately fell in love with the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 426 Hemi 4-speed and soon after, ordered one from his local car dealership back in Venezuela. Chrysler made around 77,000 Challengers that year, however only 137 were equipped with this large engine and manual transmission, making it a super rare vehicle.
It stayed in Venezuela until 1996, until Juan and his brother brought “El Hemi” back to the States and fully restored it back to its original condition. Check out the video above to see this car travel through time and across the world.
