From the beginning of his career, Eminem has been known to pay homage to artists, actors and rappers in his music. “Rap God” was no different — the Detroit native dropped a shout out to Chicago rap group Hotstylz for their hit single “Lookin’ Boy,” sampling a snippet of their beat as well as formulating a large portion of his verse around the concept of the said track. Raymond Jones, a rapper from the group, was not too happy about it and is now suing Eminem and his label for $8 million. Shady has yet to respond to the lawsuit but we will keep you updated accordingly. Listen to both records below and let us know if you find it sue-worthy. The sample is used in “Rap God” at the 2:15 mark.
