The wait for Dreamville’s latest signee and South Central prodigy Cozz‘s debut project, Cozz N Effect, is almost over. The project is scheduled to hit the internet next week, and the LA emcee has unveiled one more track before his project’s arrival. “Wait’s Over” is appropriately titled, and as far as rap music coming from individuals without even an EP to their name go, it’s about as strong of a statement as Kendrick’s “i.” Cozz is strikingly verbose and dexterous on “Wait’s Over,” ripping through the track’s darker-toned boom-bap with dense bars hard enough to crack concrete. It’s the type of show-stealing performance you hope to hear from a buzzing rapper who stands a few days away from dropping his first fully-formed introduction to the world. Blog buzz and internet-based fanfare may be fickle, but these are the type of songs any smart emcee can build a career base off of. You can take “Wait’s Over” for a spin above, and expect Cozz N Effect to surface sometime next week.
