Maurizio Cattelan "L.O.V.E." Snow Globe
Renowned Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan continues his jabs at pop culture and subversive artwork
Renowned Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan continues his jabs at pop culture and subversive artwork by teaming with the MoMA Design Store to produce a special “L.O.V.E.” snow globe featuring a downsized version of one of his most popular and controversial public works. The globe portion is as one might expect, crafted out of glass and filled with glitter and water, while the base is cast from resin.
Originally crafted out of Carrara marble, the L.O.V.E installation — popularly known simply as “The Middle Finger” — was placed not far from the Milan Stock Exchange and was an acronym for libertá (freedom), odio (hate), vendetta (revenge) and eternitá (eternity).
Priced at $45 USD, the “L.O.V.E.” snow globe edition will go on sale at the MoMA Design Store on July 7.
