Sometimes, it doesn’t take much to make an infectious, high-quality tune. Case in point: newcomers Mexico City Blondes. Santa Barbara musicians Allie Thompson and Greg Doscher’s project together as Mexico City Blondes currently doesn’t yield much of a following or body of work, but their new bare bones track “Fade” is already picking up a lot of stream in the blogosphere and placing them on new paths. “Fade” rarely strays from its slow-crawling, minimal-arranged sound, but therein lies its beauty and brilliance.  The duo deftly infuses together a few melancholic, dreamy melodies with some soft drum-beats to provide the perfect palette for the sultry, soulful notes of the vocals to work their magic. Just by conjoining a few simple instrumental parts and a singer whose tones are both raspy and velvety, MCB have hit a homerun. You can follow them on Facebook and expect a full album soon.
