Entering the world of graffiti in the early ’80s, Apex has been mutating his art through the decades, pulling influences from various disciplines such as his architecture degree to his long-standing involvement in Bay Area’s art scene. While flamboyant burners and colorful throw ups lend themselves as examples of Apex’s artistry, fans of the graffiti artist are most infatuated by his different hand styles, which blend cryptic letters with various styles from downtown crews in his “street bombing vs. bus hopping” renditions. For our latest HBTV episode, Apex shares with us the concept behind his mural for POW! WOW! 2014, speaking on the importance of being aware of the wall and its surroundings to fully maximize the art featured. We also get a closer look at his can control while he blends patterns with acrylic paint palettes and street art elements in various layers. Rounding out the clip, Apex shouts-out HYPEBEAST in a unique monochromatic script. Enjoy the video here and stay tuned for more POW! WOW!-related content.
