Last March, NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon teamed up with Pepsi in their new ad campaign titled “Test Drive.” The stunt, where a car salesman is taken on a wild ride with Jeff as the driver, came under fire when news that the stunt could be completely fabricated began circulating online. Among those who believed it wasn’t authentic was a journalist named Travis Okulsi working for Jalopnik, who famously stated that the stunt was “totally 100 percent fake.” After the journalist’s comments reached Gordon and the Pepsi team they devised a plan to prank and prove to him that the campaign video was in fact totally 100 percent authentic.
