In 2000, D’Angelo dropped his commercially and critically successful album Voodoo. While for many years the Virginian R&B singer hinted of the near-completion of a new album, there has been no concrete evidence up until now. Earlier today, a short trailer was uploaded to YouTube alluding to the albums name — Black Messiah. Shortly following, a photo of physical copies of the CD and a poster of the release was posted on Twitter, captioned with the tentative release date of December 16th. Red Bull Music Academy and Afropunk will be hosting a listening session for the album in New York this Sunday; the rest of us will have to wait patiently. This is very exciting news and we will be sure to update you as soon as we have access to more information. Check out the said videos above and the photo of the hardcopy below.
