Blizzard Previews Overwatch at BlizzCon 2014

Premiering at BlizzCon 2014 was gamemakers Blizzard Entertainment‘s upcoming title Overwatch. Better known for creating massively popular games such as StarCraft and World of Warcraft with their typically dark and somber storylines, the cinematic trailer that was shown at the conference was a clear break from Blizzard’s aesthetic, combining a decidedly bright and airy atmosphere with tween characters for something resembling a crossover between a Pixar film and Kingdom Hearts. The game will in fact be a team-based online multiplayer shooter, with in-game graphics and gameplay resembling Valve’s Team Fortress 2, and will enter beta testing next year.
