Patrick O’Dell‘s acclaimed skateboarding show Epicly Later’d resumes by kicking off a series on none other than Chocolate Skateboards. The first installation is a healthy 17-minute episode on the origins of the legendary brand, which is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary. Skateboarding’s privy know the story all too well: talented kids, namely Mike Carroll and Rick Howard, are exhausted of their current sponsor situation, and start a company named Girl in an admittedly boyish whim. Chocolate – originally supposed to be named ‘Sister’ – was born in the subsequent year, starting with Chico Brenes and a crew of San Francisco locals. Newly-added professional rider Jerry Hsu joins Spike Jonze, Sam Smyth and others come together to illustrate this coming-of-age tale, perhaps one of skateboarding’s most charming ones to date. Enjoy the first installment of this series above, and keep your eyes peeled for new episodes dropping in the coming weeks.
